NextCement
Oxyfuel technology – a holistic approach
Classic cement production causes unavoidable emissions during limestone calcination — essentially CO2. thyssenkrupp Calvion‘s Oxyfuel process technology substitutes ambient air for the burning process with pure oxygen, resulting in an exhaust gas flow with highly concentrated CO2. This builds the basis for efficient carbon capture and carbon storage technologies — a holistic approach.
With solutions for both new-build and existing cement plants, Calvion combines proven technology with deep process and plant engineering expertise.
We attend the transition towards low-carbon cement production.
Direct Air Capture (DAC)
DAC — we focus on your requirements
Another efficient process within the mechanical or thermal solution for decarbonization uses hydrated lime and Calvion's flash calciner. Direct Air Capture (DAC) removes CO2 directly from ambient air and will play an important role in achieving durable carbon removal.
As an industrial scale-up and integration partner, we support the continuous development process, managing key project and process interfaces.
thyssenkrupp Calvion implements proven large-scale calciner and Oxyfuel expertise from the cement industry to DAC applications.
NextLime
Greener lime — pyro competence meets EAC
NextLime, known as quicklime, is an essential raw material for industries including steelmaking, construction or water treatment. Its production requires new approaches to one of its most energy- and carbon-intensive process steps: the calcination.
The new NextLime process uses renewable electricity operating the Electric Arc Calciner (EAC), in conjunction with Calvion’s pyro engineering and experience to establish a calcination concept toward industrial-scale greener lime production.
By drastically reducing CO₂ emissions, it supports a cleaner, more sustainable future for the industry.
Phosphogypsum
Recycling waste — always in action
Phosphogypsum is a major by-product of phosphoric acid production that is often disposed of or stored in large stockpiles. These stockpiles can create challenges related to land use, water contamination and regulatory requirements.
thyssenkrupp Calvion develops phosphogypsum recycling and valorization solutions together with thyssenkrupp Uhde, combining thermal process with chemical engineering such as material treatment, drying, pre-calcination, decomposition, cooling and gas treatment.
The integrated process converts waste product into valuable products including cement clinker and sulfuric acid.
